The Main Goal of A Christian

Note: I acknowledge that there is no suppose private interpretation of the bible scripture (II Peter 1:20) hence, I subject this writing to other spirit. Should you find my writing to be totally wrong, I would then appreciate if you could correct me and or rebuke me (II Timothy 3:16). Let's reason together (Isaiah 1:18) so as to bring the matter into the light, I can be reach at sherwincablao@gmail.com.

What is the main goal of being so called a Christian, is it not to Please the only one True God in Jesus Name? When we say please God, it basically mean to follow and obey what is written in the bible right? Now, the verses below one of it was spoken by Jesus himself said:

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’'Matthew 25:35-40 NKJV

“For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11 NKJV

“The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7 NKJV

“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8 NKJV

“Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.” Matthew 5:42 NKJV

“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." I Timothy 5:8 NKJV

“Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.” Proverbs 6:6-11 NKJV

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.” Proverbs 13:22 NKJV

Basically, the verses simply says, be generous enough to the needy, help those who are in need not just those who are close to you or your family and at the same time owe no one, provide the needs of our family and of our household, be prepared, store provision, prepare for what the future may hold. Leaves inheritance to our children's that will last even to their children's children.

Yes, our main goal as christian is to please God thus, following His word in the bible. But lets ask ourselves, are we pleasing Him in this regard? Do we have what it takes to simultaneously be generous without hesitation, provide helps without compromising the need of our family, not owing anyone and able to provide for own household needs, prepare for the future, leave inheritance and by inheritance refers basically to whatever inheritance may refer to (morality, spiritual, attitude, provision, wealth, etc.).

We all acknowledge that eternal salvation is more important than wealth on earth, but we are yet living are we not? And since we are still alive God did say,

“But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Hebrews 13:16 NKJV

We might be concentrating so much in receiving heavenly reward and working for salvation for ourselves forgetting that, while yet living we are oblige to do good and to share to those who are in needs. And how are we going to do this, if we ourself cannot even provide for our own household or hardly prepare for our future?
God also did say,

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NKJV

By light means, be of good example in any aspect (behaviour, attitude, habit, decisions, etc), whereby men see our good works which God has allowed so that God may be glorified. As a christian we are oblige to be of example not just verbally but make it happen and, not to just few but basically to all. Do you not think its futile to broadcast to the world that we are a christian and to be a christian we have to repent and not repeatedly commit sin, workout own salvation, build relationship, do this and that, yet, we hardly can provide for the our own family, in debt, unable to prepare for the future, unable to leave inheritance? How is our light shining then? Does our light shining by word alone? Can we be a good example whereby, men see our good works which God permitted by mainly claiming verbally but not really showing in reality? Good works will only be visible to others if producing good result therefore was act upon. Good works will never be visible if only said but not done.
